This photo was taken during an engagement session! We ended the session with them jumping off the dock. I couldn’t have planned the dog and its positioning any better! I am from Lynchburg, VA!

This was taken on a little getaway down the shore. After dinner we went for a walk on the beach. The girls were being silly & striking dramatic poses. I only had my little point & shoot in my purse, but I started snapping. This was taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7, f 3, 1/160 sec, ISO 100, no flash.

This shot was taken at an engagement party in Brooklyn, NY overlooking NYC. (I live in NY!)
Photo was taken with a Canon 5D Mark II and 70-200 2.8. Settings were 1/125, f/2.8, ISO 4000. Lit with a Westcott Ice Light!

This was one of my first times experimenting with a variable ND filter. You can tell it was a cheapy by the funky coloring top-left and bottom-right, but I think that coloring worked out well for this pic. This place turns into a hooligan hangout after dark. It’s like that movie – “From Dusk ‘Til Dawn,” except drunken rednecks instead of vampires. Wait what if….. nah.

This is one of my favorite wildlife portraits from my recent trip to California. The low angle of view is because I was actually in the water! The wild sea otters were just floating around, not a care in the world, while kayaks and swimmers cruised by. Swimming with wild sea otters is an experience that I will never forget! Taken with my Canon 7D, Sigma 50-500mm, f/6.3, 1/500 at ISO 160.

This was taken with natural light during a “Trash the gown” shoot. I just loved the style of her dress for this shot!

What a fun jumping through the waves! The shot taken in the water with SONY NEX at ISO200 with f8 in speed priority mode at 1/1250 sec to freeze the motion.

This is Zac in his drysuit and PFD. He’s taking a well deserved break after a long session at the Mountain Portage Rapids on the Slave River on the border of Alberta and the Northwest Territories. From his expression you might be able to tell that he’s verging on exhaustion but having a good time.

I shot this with my Canon 60D and an 18-200 lens. The focal length was 18mm, ISO 100, Shutter Speed 1/60, f8.0.

One of my favorite Seniors, we had a ton of fun in four locations ending up at the Beach on Lake Michigan.

Using a Cannon 5D MarkII and a EF70-200 f/4L ISS USM lens with an attached speedlight for fill we captured this image at a focal length of 150.0m, at an exposure of 1/160sec f/5.6, ISO 400 ; Manual evaluative metering.

Cooling off at the local splash pad I loved the motion of the kids enjoying the water on the hot day.

    D700, 70-200mm Nikkor
ISO 1000 (because with the D700 I can shoot at higher ISO without noise, and this way when the sun came out I only needed to adjust my SS).
F/2.8 to (for a shallow DOF to blur any background distractions like the fence and other kids who might run by)
SS (1/8000 to freeze motion, and also to allow flexibility of moving to slower SS when the sun would peek out from the stray clouds… while still being able to freeze the water and active kids)

I took this photo last weekend at my house. We were having a graduation party for my cousin and managed to get this unplanned shot of my 2nd cousin in the pool. I used my 60D & 50 1.8. ISO 100 f/2.8 and 1/500.

Westcott Apollo softbox used on a lightstand with 1 – nikon sb800, from above pointed down and beautiful model Heather at the Tropicana in Las Vegas. Compositional elements (head and hand in a blank dark space) to add to the allure of the model focusing on her expression and gesture of barely touching her neck. Colors enhanced in lightroom and photoshop for subtle complimentary color effect. Palm tree shadow darkened to add to mystery and tropical feel.

This is the first of the senior pictures I have done. We went down by the Milwaukee Lakefront to take some pictures. Many didn’t turn out to well because there was a lot of heavy, dense fog. This image was one of the favorites from our shoot. What she is wearing fits perfectly with the colors of the background and her positioning is awesome.
